Hispanics are the nation’s fastest-growing minority, with a buying power to match. Boxing, although rarely a trendsetter, figured this out long ago.

In 1988, promoter Bob Arum signed Olympic bronze medalist Michael Carbajal. Soon, the sport’s landscape changed dramatically. By the early 1990s, Carbajal was filling huge arenas in his hometown of Phoenix and other cities with large Hispanic populations.”
