“Thousands lined the streets in Jackson Heights for the annual Ecuadorian Pride Parade Sunday.

The parade celebrates the culture of an estimated 150,000 New Yorkers who also consider themselves Ecuadorians.

“It’s a growing community,” said Neil Hernandez, commissioner of the Department of Juvenile Justice. “I was born and raised in Jackson Heights where about half of the Ecuadorians in New York City live and continue to raise their families. It’s a community that’s large throughout the city, but I would say about half of us live here in Jackson Heights.” “
