For centuries, corridos have told the stories of Mexico, its borderlands and its people with tender tales of love and betrayal and sordid sagas of drug runners and smugglers. For many Latino immigrants and longtime Latino residents of the U.S., corridos are cultural connectors. They draw parallels to rap music’s real-life street themes and even Shakespeare’s musings of England’s country life. “
