“Latino activists are calling the House Judiciary Committee hearing on the impact of illegal immigration a sham.
The hearing, which focused on the cost of illegal immigration in terms of education, health care, law enforcement and federal benefits, is one of a series being held nationwide at a time when the Senate and House are deadlocked over immigration laws.
Republican James Sensenbrenner, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, said the Senate bill amounts to amnesty.”
