Latino Market Drops Chicken Slaughtering Plans in Colorado

“A Hispanic grocery store has dropped plans to slaughter chickens after hearing concerns from city officials and residents.

Rancho Liborio Markets on Friday withdrew its request for an onsite slaughtering facility. The store is expected to be built by the end of the year.

“We’re grateful that they withdrew that (request),” said Becky Safarik, community development director for Greeley. “Their main operation is the grocery store, and that is the piece that is the anchor.”"
