“Demand for workers who speak Spanish is rising, prompting a surge in the number of students studying the language at the University of Colorado.

The university had 307 Spanish majors last year, compared with 212 in 2000. CU had 139 students majoring in “international Spanish for the professions” last year, up from five in 1996, the first year it was offered.”
