“One hundred high school students from the California Central Valley will have a rare opportunity to learn about college and careers at the Fresno Hispanic Youth Symposium, August 4-6 at California State University at Fresno.
The Hispanic College Fund’s Fresno Hispanic Youth Symposium begins Friday August 4th with a challenge to the students to frame issues that affect them and to design solutions. Other topics covered the first day include: foundations for personal success, the importance of team building and networks, as well as exploration of talent, art and public speaking.
On Saturday August 5th students will gain a greater understanding of how to choose a college, prepare for college, write a powerful essay, and finance college. All of the college sessions will be facilitated by admissions officers from top colleges from across the country and Hispanic College Fund Scholars. Later in the second day the students will learn about professional career tracks from Kaiser Permanente, SACNAS, Fresno State, and the Federal Government. “
