Ban on illegal workers could cost taxpayers - Nashville, Tennessee

“Such is the case with a proposed Metro ordinance concerning illegal immigrants. Metro Councilman J.B. Loring plans to sponsor an ordinance that would prevent Metro government from using illegal immigrants in any of its contract work. Loring wants the city to have the authority to void any contract with a business using illegal immigrants.

Loring says he’s been contacted by residents who say illegal laborers are working on Metro jobs. That poses a question: How do residents know the workers are illegal? A worker may look Hispanic, and he may speak Spanish, but he could still have a green card in his pocket, or in fact, be a naturalized citizen.”
