“Funding cuts could force a center that teaches English and civics to immigrants to lay off staff, decrease classroom time or leave vacant positions unfilled.

The Wichita Indochinese Center stands to receive $45,000 less in funding from the Kansas Board of Regents than it did last year, said its director, Mohan Kambampati.

The cuts come as enrollment jumped by nearly 100 people in the past two years, to 294 students, and Hispanic students continue to move into the state.”
