Latino family values live on in Surprise, Arizona
Tagged: family“Melissa Hernandez was 13 when her mother decided it was time to take her to the Surprise onion fields where her family made its living years ago.
“She wanted me to see where she worked as a child,” Hernandez, 25, said. “She wanted me to appreciate my blessings.”
Hernandez’s mother, Becky Arismendez, said her daughter was “acting up” at the time. Arismendez, wife of Surprise Councilman Danny Arismendez, said the lesson of love was about holding on to family values and remembering your history. “
