“Ray Blanco, the Plainfield City Council president who had risen from poverty in Cuba to become a national champion of Latino rights and a renowned television producer, died Friday of an apparent heart attack, officials said yesterday. He was 50.
A 27-year Plainfield resident, Blanco became the first Latino to sit on the council in the heavily Hispanic city when he was elected as a Democrat in November 2004.”
