Leading up to its launch, the prospect of a Venezuelan-government backed channel sparked widespread media coverage and caused a lot of grief among some here in the US. Telesur knew how to create a buzz, but it turned out that its biggest ratings boost came from a Republican Congressman who decided to respond. Other than that, nobody is watching. Telesur got more attention before it went on air than after.”
