“Presenters and participants in a recent workshop held at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith hope to improve Hispanic student achievement and parental involvement in several local schools.
Laura Witherington of Van Buren, director of the Western Arkansas Education Renewal Zone at UA Fort Smith, said participants in the Hispanic Literature Initiative discussed best practices for UA Fort Smith students who will be doing field experiences in the teachers’ classrooms. Also on the agenda was how to implement literature circles, which is a reading workshop technique.”
