“Chicago-based advertising agency Lápiz on Monday will launch the first-ever advertising work for Wickes Furniture Co. in Chicago and Los Angeles aimed at Hispanic consumers.

After winning the Carol Stream Ill.-based client in mid-June, the agency team came up with the campaign concept and campaign tagline “Muebles que se roban el show (Furniture that steals the show). The idea for the TV campaign is inspired by Latin American telenovelas. Indeed, both 30-second spots, “Poison” and “Thief,” were shot in a telenovela studio in Miami and directed by Argentine film director Marcelo Paez of America Filmworks, Miami. “
