A cultural crowd pleaser in Indianapolis
“More than 8,000 people came to the event last year, and Roberto Ponce, spokesman for the mayor’s Commission on Latino Affairs, expected the same or higher attendance Saturday.
“It’s not only about social services, it’s about fun,” Ponce said. “It’s a perfect package.”
Forum organizers charged no admission, and an hour and a half into the event, almost 1,500 people had walked through the park, taking in Latino music, food and culture. They were able to get several free health checks — ranging from measuring glucose and cholesterol levels to eye exams.”
