“Watching reruns of I Love Lucy, I could relate to that household. After all, my own parents’ marriage was just like theirs - as far as ethnicity. My mom was the one who could break out in Spanish (being first generation Mexican and Spanish), and my dad (blue-eyed, blond hair, all-American) was the one with a blank look on his face not understanding mom when she decided to speak her first language.
In fact, in my mom’s family, the majority of her brothers and sisters married Anglo spouses. It seems my family, and others like them, were ahead of their time when it comes to “interracial relationships.”
A new article in the American Sociological Review (ASR) says that the interracial trend is still growing and getting stronger.”
