From the The Tomás Rivera Policy Institute

“In previous research, TRPI has established that Latino students and parents know very little about the process of preparing, applying and paying for college. A statewide survey of Latino youth in California titled “Perceptions of College Financial Aid Among California Latino Youth” investigates perceptions of college costs, benefits, and access to financial aid.

By understanding how Latino youth perceive college costs, institutions and policymakers can best target information campaigns, address misperceptions of college affordability, and make college attainable to families.

The study was performed by TRPI education research director, Dr. Estela Zarate with support from The Sallie Mae Fund.
