“A House hearing that was convened to criticize the Senate’s sweeping immigration bill as “amnesty” quickly dissolved into a broader finger-pointing exercise Tuesday.
Democrats harangued Republicans for what they termed “sham” House hearings designed to push off resolution of the hot-button immigration issue until after the November elections.
Republicans criticized administrations past and present for failing to enforce immigration law and predicted that the will to do so would be lacking in the future.”
