“The U.S. Supreme Court issued on June 28 an opinion in League of United Latin American Citizens et al. vs. Governor Perry of Texas et al. that will be a landmark decision in the voting rights of Latinos and other minority groups.
The ruling negated the 2003 redistricted Congressional District 23, which is represented by Henry Bonilla, a Republican. In doing so, the Supreme Court answered a question that has been lurking in the background of redistricting in cases covered by the Voting Rights Act.”
