“This is rebel music? RBD’s six cast members ”” make that singers ”” strutted onstage at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night in coordinated fashion-punk outfits and sang, “Soy rebelde” (“I’m a rebel.”) Actually, the three men and three women of RBD are lead actors in a Mexican soap opera, “Rebelde,” set at a boarding school. The band was spun off from a plotline in the show and has become a Latin American phenomenon, selling five million copies of the four albums it has made since 2004. While RBD has been working on an English-language album, this concert was for its current fans; many showed up in the prep-school uniform seen on the show: white shirts, red neckties and plaid skirts.”
