“The fastest-growing group of voters in Georgia is one that’s traditionally been ignored, but that could be about to change.

The Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials is mounting a massive drive this summer and fall to register Hispanics to vote in Athens and across the state.

Already, GALEO estimates there are more than 70,000 registered Hispanic voters in Georgia. That’s a drop in the bucket compared to the more than 4 million white, black and Asian voters, but the number of Hispanic voters is growing exponentially, and GALEO Executive Director Jerry Gonzalez argues it’s already enough to sway a close election.”
