“Now in its second year, the English as a second language class draws 70 per session — track and farm workers or local Latinos. Their goal: end the discomfort that can color their days as residents of a foreign land.

Walking or shopping downtown can be nerve-racking for some track workers, who can be ignored or shunned by residents and tourists, says Dorothy Nowhitney, who directs the classes through Saratoga’s Latino Community Advocacy Program.”
