“Rev. Leonard Dubi, of St. Victor Parish in Calumet City, has said “bienvenidos” to the Hispanic community by celebrating its first Mass in Spanish on Sunday.

Dubi has only been with the parish for about five months but said he knew the church always had a progressive element to it. Because of the growing number of Hispanics within the community and the lack of churches within the suburbs of Chicago that offer Mass in Spanish, Dubi said he knew it was the next direction for the parish.

“We can’t go backward,” said Dubi. “We can only move forward,” he said.”
