“Fort Wayne Community Schools board member Steve Corona said he is excited about the promise of increased communication between school officials and members of Fort Wayne’s Latino community.

In response to the killing of Maplewood fifth-grader Alejandra Gutierrez in December, Fort Wayne Latinos initiated talks with FWCS to try to solve problems facing Spanish-speaking families and the schools. This fall, Corona and Superintendent Wendy Robinson hope FWCS will hold a series of meetings to inform non-English-speaking residents of important school news.”
