“These are some reasons why Ernesto Labrador, chairman of the Hispanic Affairs Advisory Board, one of many groups that makes recommendations to the Collier County Commission, plans to leave his post to start a Hispanic coalition next month.
Labrador, 66, thinks the advisory board is not an effective vehicle to ignite change but hopes to continue on as a member of the board. He wants the coalition to deal directly with the commission, school board and sheriff’s office on issues of education, jobs, housing, health and relations with law enforcement.”
