Guatemalans learn lessons from Yakima, Washington

“A group of Guatemalan government and business leaders visiting the Yakima Valley took inspiration Monday from the city’s recent economic and community development successes in hopes of applying some lessons to their own depressed rural economy.

“Visiting places like Yakima is going to give us some choices and open our minds and see what can be done,” said Tulio Garcí, who represents an agricultural cooperative of 7,000 small farmers. He spoke in English.”
