“Monroe County Latino representation in the state level has been long overdue, but since Gov. Ed Rendell appointed a local university provost of Cuban descent to serve as a commissioner on the Governor’s Advisory Commission of Latino Affairs, the hopes of many local Latinos were finally answered.

Alberto Cardelle, who holds many positions at East Stroudsburg University, was among 17 Latino appointees who will serve a two-year term on GACLA, the state’s liaison to the Latino community. Cardelle is the first Latino appointee from Monroe County in at least five years.”
