Latino task force mulls response to immigration law. Hazelton, Pennsylvania

“The Hazleton Area Latino Task Force (H.A.L.T.) met with concerned community members, interested lawyers and outside dignitaries Thursday to express distress over Mayor Louis Barletta’s Illegal Immigration Relief Act and to formulate the community’s response for next Thursday’s city council meeting. Dr. Agapito Lopez, a member of H.A.L.T., said the first portion of the meeting, which was closed to all media, was to allow Hazleton residents to communicate their feelings about the proposed ordinance and what effect they feel it will have on the community.”
