Mainly a staple of street-cart vendors in Mexico City, the sandwich has migrated across the border and into Mexican eateries, lunch spots and even the white-tablecloth dining establishments of the United States.
In Sacramento, tortas can be eaten at many Mexican restaurants as well as the newly opened Tortugas, a small downtown takeout place with a few tables and a bunch of attitude.”
