One year anniversary and more thoughts on keeping HispanicTips going strong.
Well, I made it. One year of collecting Hispanic-Latino news is finished. Now, I am thinking about the future. Actually, I am locked onto the future of HispanicTips because on top of everything else it seems that my job may be in jeopardy. I find myself faced with the prospect of beginning the search for another job or taking the plunge and creating my own future with HispanicTips.
Speaking from the heart, I enjoy HispanicTips and would love to make it my full-time job instead of squeezing it in here and there during the day. So I am asking for help and advise because although I have dreams of an entrepreneurial life, I am simply a middle-aged Hispanic web developer with big dreams and a good website.
I feel there are several things that I need to do.
- I need to raise money
- I need to increase the number of visitors to the site
- I need to increase the visibility of the site and myself.
To do this, I have a plan.
- I am going to seek corporate sponsors
- I am going to get out and attend Hispanic-Latino events (I haven’t been able to do this with a full-time job)
- I am going to seek to forge partnerships.
This is what I have in mind for corporate sponsors.
- Two levels
- Oro for $10,000 a year
- Plata for $5,000 a year
- Each will get to display their logo or other artwork (size: 120 x 90) pixels at the top of the inner sidebar (where the Google ads are currently). I will order these randomly.
- Any impression of a sponsor’s name or logo, of course, may have a link back to their website.
- At the Oro level each sponsor will also get
- their name right under the HispanicTips banner. Something like — Generously sponsored by: The MegaChicito Corp.
- a spot in the randomly rotating banner ad (468 x 60) to the right of the main HispanicTips banner
- Aside from the goodwill a sponsor will garner this translates to on the monetary level is that each sponsor will get over 700,000 impressions per year at the current traffic level (hopefully much more as time goes on). That comes down to a cost of about only a penny per impression.
Additionally, I had the thought of trading an Oro level sponsorship for help in sales and marketing. So if there are any sales/marketing/PR types out there that would be interested in such an offer drop me a line?
Please, if you have any suggestions let me know.
I would also ask if anyone knows any contacts that might be able to help me to please send me a note. I will need the help of all my readers to make this a success.
Sincerely, Tomás
