Study: Illegal Immigrants Are Paying For Services

“Days before the state Legislature considers whether to bar illegal immigrants from most state services, a think tank issued a study Friday saying illegal workers pay enough in taxes to cover most of the cost of public education, emergency health care and other benefits as well as expenses like incarceration.

Wade Buchanan, president of the Bell Policy Center, a liberal think tank, said his study found that illegal immigrants pay $159 million to $194 million in state and local taxes in Colorado, equal to 70 to 86 percent of the estimated $225 million in services the state is required to provide.”
