“This is the new face of Saluda, the county with the highest percentage of Hispanic residents in South Carolina.

“They call this Little Mexico,” said Cleraisse Thompson, who works at a store her family has owned in Saluda for 25 years.

As the nation debates its immigration policy, Saluda, located about 200 miles northwest of Myrtle Beach, illustrates the dilemma the country faces.”
