“The number of people who only speak Spanish is growing everyday, and it`s beginning to cause problems in courthouses across the state. That`s why the Indiana Supreme Court announced it will pay for some court employees to take Spanish classes.

Vigo County Judge Barbara Brugnaux is at the base of this plan, and after a successful pilot program in Vigo County, she`s glad to see it put in place across the state.

About a year and a half ago, Judge Brugnaux brainstormed with Indiana Chief Justice Randall T. Shephard to come up with a plan to improve communications between court employees and Spanish-speaking individuals.”
