“The festival, which benefits La Casa de Esperanza, runs through Sunday and is in its 25th year.

“It started 25 years ago as a big block party in front of La Casa,” La Casa Development Director Shari Campbell said. “It was just a party, a chance to have fun and get the neighborhood together. And then it grew.”

Festival gates open at 4 p.m. followed by the opening ceremonies. The National Anthem will be performed and there will be a presentation of colors and a performance by Ballet Folklorico de los Hermanos Avila.”
