BB&T targets immigrant customers

“One-upping its rivals in the growing battle to attract immigrants as customers, BB&T Corp. said Tuesday it will let customers transfer money anywhere in the world free of charge.

Many U.S. banks are slashing fees on money transfers to attract the business of Hispanic immigrants, who remit billions of dollars a year to family members in their native countries.

But the Winston-Salem company, seeking to distinguish its offering, said it wanted to serve immigrants to America from countries all over the globe.”
