“Teatro Nuevo Mexico announced auditions recently for James Lujan’s “Kino & Teresa” and Ray Bradbury’s “The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit.”

TNM bills itself as New Mexico’s newest Hispanic theater company. But “Kino & Teresa” is a retelling of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet,” and “Ice Cream Suit” was written by an Anglo best known for science fiction and fantasy stories.

So, I wondered, what makes Hispanic theater Hispanic theater.”
