“The number of Hispanic crime victims in the North Charleston area has been escalating in the past two years, North Charleston Police Department spokesman Spencer Pryor said, although he didn’t have exact figures Saturday. The Hispanic population has visibly grown along Remount and Ashley Phosphate roads, as was evident at the nearby Wal-Mart.

Police are trying to encourage more Hispanic victims to report crimes. Police also are trying to get more Hispanics to open bank accounts so they won’t have cash which makes them potential crime targets.”
