“The day that outreach is not needed in the Hispanic community is the day we’ve done our job,” says Martin Gutierrez. Gutierrez and Alfredo Navaraez, both of the Hispanic Apostolate of the Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans, recently met with Church World Service emergency response staff in New Orleans.

Before the hurricane, the Hispanic Apostolate offered a number of small assistance programs, including job services, immigration, health, emergency assistance referrals, education, and pastoral/parish support, to more than 80,000 Hispanics primarily living in Jefferson Parish.”
