Young Latinos at forum stand and deliver their desire to be part of a livelier church

“Did Rosa Isela Hernandez speak prophetic words last week at the University of Notre Dame?Yeah, but they didn’t have the bottled energy uncorked a couple of hours later when nearly 2,000 young Latino Catholics lit into songs about Jesus and stomped their heels until God — and the bishops — heard them.

“It’s not that the youth want to be served, but that the youth want to serve,” says Hernandez, 30, leading her 9-year-old daughter to a meal at Notre Dame with those young Latino adults who were about to make Roman Catholic history.”
