“According to Nielsen figures to be released later this week, more than four million viewers throughout the country watched the NCLR ALMA Awards show which was broadcast last Monday, June 5, on ABC. That number represents a doubling of the viewership from when the show last aired in 2002.
“We are very pleased that, despite a four-year hiatus, the ALMA Awards not only retained its original audience, it also gained millions of new viewers. The unprecedented level of attention the show received this year, thanks in large part to Eva Longoria and ABC, also indicates that there is a hunger to see more Latinos on television and to showcase how the Latino presence strengthens this nation,” stated Janet Murguí, NCLR President and CEO.”
