“A few weeks ago when Laredo Mayor Betty Flores told Latina Lista that she and her city had an alternative to the unsightly, unfriendly fence the U.S. government wants to build in her city’s backyard, reader reaction was mixed.

The alternative the Mayor was talking about was building a natural parkland that would enhance the city while making it more difficult for illegally-arrived immigrants, who swim their way across the Rio Grande, to hide. “
