Spanish language won’t be muted

As soon as House members came out swinging against the immigration reform bill passed by the Senate, the overriding question was how long it will take for both sides to reach a middle ground. The only common ground today, it seems, is the belief that the border must be secured and the insistence that English should be the national language. Though lawmakers suggest the English amendment would be symbolic, there is an unspoken hope that it would significantly alter the use of Spanish in this country.”
