First Latina Astronaut Visits School Named For Her in California
Tagged: student“Astronaut Ellen Ochoa, a veteran of four space shuttle flights, visited students Friday at a Cudahy school that now bears her name — the Ellen Ochoa Learning Center.
Ochoa became the first Latina astronaut in July 1991. She flew on STS-56 in 1993, STS-66 in 1994 and STS-96 in 1999. She most recently flew aboard the space shuttle Atlantis in 2002. She is now deputy director of Flight Crew Operations at NASA. “
