“Recently, Dr. Laura Zarrugh has become a hot commodity.

Ever since immigration policy began dominating headlines, Zarrugh, a cultural anthropologist who studies Latino immigration in the Shenandoah Valley, has had a packed schedule.

Armed with her theories and research about the “Latinization of Harrisonburg,” the James Madison University adjunct professor said she now spends much of her time educating the public about the history of Latinos in the Valley.”
