“As the Chicago Housing Authority remakes public housing across the city, a new report contends that the agency still is not providing Latinos the openings it promised in a court settlement 10 years ago.
In January, Latino families occupied just 4.5 percent of the agency’s 18,000 available public housing units and 10.5 percent of its 36,000 federally subsidized homes, according to the non-profit Latinos United.
The group says those figures display a continuing pattern of discrimination that triggered a 1994 class-action lawsuit, a charge the CHA denied Monday.”
