“The face of AIDS used to be gay men. Over time, it gradually changed to include young children, celebrities, and sports icons.
Ahora, the face of AIDS are teenagers and people over the age of 50. Yet, the biggest increase is among mujeres (women), especially Latinas and African-American women.
October is the month set aside for Latinos to face up to the fact that we are contributing to the increase in AIDS. Latina Lista wrote on National Latino AIDS Awareness Day 2005 how since 1990, the number of Latinas with AIDS had increased by 53 percent.”
