“Over the past six years, the Spanish Broadcasting System, parent company of WPAT/Amor 93.1 FM, has seen its roster of stations skyrocket to the top of the radio ratings — regularly trumping even Howard Stern at the height of his popularity.
To the radio jockeys who host the shows, it’s not about ratings or ad rates.
“The things we talk about are able to change a person’s life,” said Reyis Lora, the main host on “Amor temprano en la mañ¡®¡ con Reyis” (”Love early in the morning with Reyis”), the same show that Galvan is on. “It’s all about the stories you choose to connect with people, to reach your audience, to help give them hope. We become their neighbors in a city where no one knows their neighbors.”"
