Church Celebrates One Year of Spanish Outreach in St. Joseph, Missouri

One St. Joseph church is trying to change that. South Park Assembly of God held a fiesta today to celebrate the one year anniversary of its Spanish ministry. Church members who say everyone needs a way to worship no matter what language it`s in. Spanish Ministry Pastor Oscar Gris said, “We`re celebrating with taco`s el pastor it`s a common meat in mexico. It`s like a barbeque but kind of different.” South Park Assembly of God church members don`t mind doing things a little differently. They`re celebrating one year of offering Spanish ministries. Pastor Sharon Spiegel said, “At 9:30 on Sunday mornings we have a service completly in spanish the songs, the preaching, everything is conducted in spanish.”
At 11:15 a.m. they offer a bilingual service. Spiegel said, “It didn`t start out that way but a lot of the Hispanic people stay and so we have our spanish pastor interpret while I preach.” Spiegel said, “In the past three months I`d say there has been an eruption of growth in the spanish services.” Pastor Gris said, “They feel more comfortable and they will pay more attention to have a service just in spanish.”"
