“Health Net of California and the Mexican Consulate General of Los Angeles will celebrate the grand opening of Health Net’s new community enrollment and customer service store located on Whittier Boulevard in East Los Angeles. Health Net’s first-of-its-kind community store will offer the advantage of one-on-one discussions in English and Spanish with well-informed Health Net Counselors who will provide personal, on-the-spot education of products and services.

According to research conducted for Health Net by UCLA and ProfMex, two of the primary reasons Latinos are uninsured are that they don’t know how to purchase it and a lack of understanding of why they need a health plan. As a solution to those barriers, Health Net is also launching an easy-to-read health insurance guide, which will be distributed nationally. Health Net’s user-friendly insurance guide is part of an ongoing effort to help address the Latino health care gap. Latinos account for more than half of the uninsured population in California. “
