“As demographics and statistics continue to show growth in the U.S. Hispanic population, the amount of Latinos without access to health insurance is increasing at a disproportionate rate. The U.S. Census Bureau revealed that the amount of uninsured Hispanics increased to 13.7 million in 2004, and this figure does not reflect the number of Hispanics who were not counted.
It is an alarming number, especially considering the fact that Hispanics account for only 14% of the total population of the United States, but represent more than 29% of the 46 million who do not have access to health insurance nor to a prescription drug coverage program.
In response to this situation, many private companies are looking for ways to help the Hispanic community gain access to health insurance coverage. Pfizer is doing its part through its patient assistance program Pfizer Helpful Answers. “
